La Valse, Felix Valloton (1893)

La Valse, Felix Valloton (1893)

The very last waltz composed by Scriabin, which could have been named Quasi-Dead Waltz, considering its atmosphere is so disturbed and the rhythm and melodies torn to pieces. The harmonies evolve toward more and more modernism and mystic longuing, even though the conclusion stays functionally tonal. The piece is very reminiscent of the impressionistic Valses Nobles of Ravel.
